You made the right choice. Now I'm going to go through your reasoning.

I Don't really like steam, it'll take ages to download, although I can make mods, I never mod anything. Not full HD monitor.

Download doesn't matter :S Once you have it it's done :S If it is really a concern get it from a friend. And your monitor.. Plug in your full HD TV. That's what I've done.

My reasons for PS3:
Trophies, (I don't have any Steam friends, I'm a loner, feels bad.), My other friends will be getting it for PS3, I'll get it a day early, I have a full HD TV

Achievements was your reason for debating platforms?! WHAT?!
And yeah, plug the PC into the TV.
I replied to this thread because I have a simple rule when deciding what platform:
PC>all unless it is a poorly put together port (ALA GTA IV).
PC has everything consoles have and more:
- same controls if you want (I use my Xbox controller for some games)
- better graphics (unless you have a terribad computer)
- more HDD space
- mods for many games, sometimes mods that improve the game out of sight like Oblivion (can't play it vanilla) and Fallout 3
- better controls for shooters. Pit the best PC Halo players against the best console players. Oh wait they already did. Remember Dreamcast Quake players vs PC players?
- more versatility, word processing etc

If you have the money PC is a no brainer. If you have more money get them all. It's what I did.
